You’re Cordially Invited: A Bride’s Guide to Save the Date Stationery

There are countless factors that go into a well-planned and flawlessly-executed destination wedding, starting with a timeline for save the date cards and invitations. You may be asking yourself if save the date notices are truly necessary, especially when you already have so many other “must have” items on your checklist. The simple answer is YES -  save the date cards are tremendously important for any destination nuptials!

First and foremost, you want your friends and family to get excited! Give them a snapshot of what to expect for your big day, but don’t give away all the fun. These are a few of the key details that couples generally include on their save the date cards when planning a destination wedding:

    • The name of the lovely couple.
    • Where are you travelling to?
    • What is the name of the venue?
    • When will the ceremony and reception take place?
    • Are there any additional events that guests are invited to attend?
    • Wedding website or wedding registry link.

You should also consider how your guests may need to prepare for travel.

Budgeting, requesting vacation time from employers, and making accommodations for childcare or pets all have to be considered for those special people in your life who are joining you abroad. Another bonus to sending out save the date cards is that if any of your guests know they won’t be able to make it right away, they will likely give you a heads up when they receive the official detail. When you get a clearer idea of how many guests you can expect, it certainly helps with the planning process and budgeting!

Now here’s the really tough part - what layout or design do you go with?

With so many options on the market, including digital options, it can be overwhelming to select save the date cards that best reflect your personality and wedding style. From my personal experience planning my own wedding and helping hundreds of brides with stationery for their destination events, a physical card can’t be beat. When you send information via email, there’s always a chance that things can get lost or hidden between spam mail and junk folders. Not to mention... you're asking your guests to spend a LOT of money to travel, but you can't be bothered with a formal invitation?

Save the dates should be exciting and entice your guests to make the trip to your dream destination, so make a lasting impression with one of the following best-selling designs!
